Maceo Plex Mixes First DJ-Kicks of 2013
With 2012 ranking as one of the most fertile years so far in DJ-Kicks history, we’re eager to get started with what is already looking like another packed year for the series. We’re pleased to announce that Maceo Plex is taking the reins for a fantastic mix, due at the end of April.
Maceo’s mix aims to highlight the sounds that he believes represent the future of electronic music. To do so, he’s dug deep in his vinyl collection for an impeccable selection of tracks with a timeless sound, spanning the last 20 years of dance music, none of which are currently available digitally outside of the DJ-Kicks mix. Many of the tracks appear as exclusive edits by Maceo himself, adding to the overall freshness of the mix.
DJ-Kicks will be released April 29th (April 30th in the US) on CD, 2xLP (w/ CD included), and digital download. For full release info (and audio coming soon), keep an eye on http://www.dj-kicks.com/maceoplex.

Brooklyn Electronic Music Festival x DJ-Kicks This Weekend!
As we continue to celebrate 27 years of !K7 Records, we’ve partnered with the good folks at Brooklyn Electronic Music Festival to help curate an line-up featuring some of our favorite musicians. The festival takes place in Williamsburg, Brooklyn (N. 6th St. to be precise) Friday and Saturday November 9th & 10th. Our stage will be on Friday the 9th at Music Hall of Williamsburg (66 North 6th St.) and will feature the amazing talents of Photek and Gold Panda, both of whom have released incredible DJ-Kicks mixes themselves, as well as a DJ set from The Rapture, Baltimore’s master DJ / Producer Karizma, San Francisco’s Grenier (who has several tracks on Photek’s DJ-Kicks as DJG) and Brooklyn’s own DJ Still Life. Things are kicking off at 9:00 and going way late, so come through and party with us!
Single day and double day tickets are still available, and give you access to all participating Festival venues for the day of your ticket. The full festival line-up is available at http://bemf.meanredproductions.com, and set times for the DJ-Kicks stage are below.

One of the first custom items we’ve created for !K7′s new online store is a special limited Hercules And Love Affair / DJ-Kicks collaboration t-shirt. For a group as stylish as the Love Affair, we knew we needed something with a unique look, and together we’ve created something we’re pretty sure will turn some heads. We’ve already posted a couple of times about the 27!K7 Exclusives series, which has included tracks from DJ-Kicks alums Apparat, Wolf + Lamb & Soul Clap, Motor City Drum Ensemble and Hercules And Love Affair. We thought you’d be excited to hear that not only are those tracks receiving a limited vinyl release, but the collection will also include a USB card loaded with every single DJ-Kicks mixes !K7 has released in its entirety. That’s close to two full days of classic electronic music in one shot! In addition, the 27!K7 Exclusives box set will include all eight exclusive tracks from the series, special anniversary slipmats, and a limited edition poster. Copies of the box are limited to 500 worldwide.

Hercules And Love Affair To Mix New DJ-Kicks
It’s official. After an epic year full of amazing mixes, Hercules And Love Affair will be mixing the last DJ-Kicks of 2012. And what a way to go out. Drawing inspiration from his earliest experiences at warehouse parties, the classic sound of 90′s house, and even the unique spirituality of the nightclubbing experience, front man Andy Butler has created a timeless mix that pulses with energy and excitement. Digitalism’s beast of a DJ-Kicks mix is out this week (friends in the States need to wait until July 10th) and you can hear it right now in it’s entirety via Fact Magazine. In addition to great music from the likes of WhoMadeWho, Alex Gopher, Vitalic & more, the mix also includes a hefty batch of new Digitalism tracks that you can’t get anywhere else, including an exclusive mix of The Rapture and a new edit of Gai Barone. Stream a New Track From Digitalism’s DJ-Kicks
The Digitalism guys really hooked us up as far as new exclusive content on their DJ-Kicks. We already shared “A New Drug” with you, and now the guys have streamed a new track called “Simply Dead” via their Soundcloud. This one goes big, with a driving tempo and some low-end crunch that is clearly made for smashing dance floors.
