Barcelona-based musician John Talabot has been one of our favorite new voices in electronic music ever since his productions first started making waves in the underground. We're extremely proud to announce that Talabot is mixing the newest edition of the DJ-Kicks series, out at the end of October.
Talabot's mix isn't a typical club mix. Instead, he's dug deep in his own collection to present a mix of formative music in his musical development, as well as snapshots of his peers and current influences. “It represents my musical world," says Talabot, "the sounds that I’ve been into over the years.”
DJ-Kicks will be released October 28th (October 29th in the US) on CD, LP & digital download. See a video preview with new music below, and read the full tracklist after the jump.

The eclectic and personal DJ-Kicks mix from Cologne's Danilo Plessow, a/k/a Motor City Drum Ensemble has inspired praise for its adventurous tracklist and meticulous mixing. Primarily known as a producer, we were interested in how the process of making a mix different from his approach to his studio recording. Motor City Drum Ensemble's DJ-Kicks is out now.

When we posted "L.O.V.E," the exclusive Motor City Drum Ensemble DJ-Kicks track to our Soundcloud, we knew we had something special, but we didn't know that it would become the most listened to, commented on and favorited track on our profile so far. To say thanks, we're sharing another tasty gift from the mix with you, an exclusive MCDE extended edit of Philippe Sarde's 'Le Cortége Et Course.' The original comes from the soundtrack to the 1972 film "Cesar et Rosalie," and the full version of the edit is exclusive to the DJ-Kicks vinyl. Enjoy!

L.O.V.E. is out now as a digital single backed with his "Basement" version, with an extra special remix package on the way featuring mixes from some amazing artists we're not going to share just yet ;). Danilo was always incredibly young with things. He started producing at the age of eleven—“way
too early” as he jokes—having his first release out just five years later: Inverse Cinematics’ “Slow Swing”, released on Pulver Records in 2002, and ended up finding its way into Ricardo Villalobos’ record bag as well as onto one of the first Fabric mix CDs. An album under the same name and a string of EPs followed. Dailo’s latest releases, the Motor City Drum Ensemble’s Raw Cuts series in 2010, had the house music world responding strongly to the charmingly fresh and dirty sounding tracks, all mixed down in spontaneous two-hour sessions. Danilo has also released on top labels ranging from 20:20 Vision to Rush Hour as well as his own MCDE and Four Roses imprints, produced for Ben Westbeech and Rainer Trüby and never ceased to amaze with his challenging remix work for artists like Caribou, Jazzanova, DJ Sprinkles and Zero 7.
His understanding of how the parts of a track can work has never been more apparent than on his DJ-Kicks mix. In 10 years, playing 80+ gigs a year, including such temples as Berghain, Fabric London, Rex and MOS, he’s absorbed dance history through hard and disciplined work behind the decks. Look at the opening selections of his DJ-Kicks mix to get a glimpse of his amazing ability to fuse totally disparate sound aesthetics into a coherent whole.
With the next months holding an extensive tour schedule for Danilo, dancers around the world will be able to experience his gift as a selector first hand. That is, before he gets back into the studio to start working on his first album as Motor City Drum Ensemble as well as a live act. All this will prove, just as his DJ-Kicks is doing now, that there is no such thing as stagnation in the ever-evolving cosmos of Danilo Plessow!

The mix features Plessow's expert selections from a wide array of genres ("A classic Dj kicks, not just a house mix," he says), including free jazz, cosmic disco, and afrobeat, with dedicated sequences of tracks giving the nod to classic Chicago house and a short list of the masters of production over the last several decades.
