The first new, exclusive track from Marcel Dettmann’s DJ-Kicks compilation is now available to stream in full ahead of the LP’s release; a remix of the producer’s 2006 classic ‘Let’s Do It’ from Ostgut Ton label mate Rolando.
Rolando’s remix is an ethereal, slow building affair, teasing in the characteristics of the original in an atmospheric intro. The original mix of ‘Let’s Do It’ was the first release on Dettmann’s own MDR label ten years ago. Rolando is an expert producer and remixer, his Ostgut Ton releases having previously been featured in Marcel’s sets, reinforcing the historic Berlin-Detroit axis.
Marcel Dettmann's DJ-Kicks is released 14th October on CD, 2LP & digital formats. Pre-orders are available now. A limited edition art print depicting the making of the album cover (shot by infamous Berghain photographer Sven Marquardt) is available via Bandcamp.
Seth Troxler and Tom Trago's DJ-Kicks exclusive track (as ‘T&T Music Factory’) has gotten the remix treatment from Norse producer and Full Pupp owner Prins Thomas and Maxi Mill. ‘De Natte Cel’ was originally aired within luminary Troxler’s contribution to the DJ Kicks series from October 2015.
Prins Thomas blows some warm Balearic air into the package as his reworking churns and gathers tension throughout. Rush Hour affiliate Maxi Mill then completes the record and propels the original forward with popping percussion and a sharp, purposeful bass line that caps off another fine addition to the DJ Kicks catalogue and a fitting homage to a bona fide institution of Dutch dance music.
The ‘De Natte Cel’ remix single is available on 12" and digital formats on 29th April 2016. Pre-orders are available now.

The exclusive Actress track "Bird Matrix," from the UK producer's 2015 DJ-Kicks mix, has been remixed for the latest in the DJ-Kicks remix series. The single includes both a "Club" and "Dub" remix from West Coast stalwart Kid606. Simbiosi, signed to Actress' own Werk Discs label, also provides a take on the track. This spring sees the reintroduction of the DJ-Kicks 12” series and with it, the tradition of releasing original DJ-Kicks material along side a selection of remixes hand-picked by the compiling artist.
Kicking off the new series is John Talabot, who’s swooning and balmy contribution to the mix series originally saw the light of day in November 2013 – an offering Derek Miller of RA deemed ‘quite possibly the commercial mix of the year’’. Now in January 2015, Talabot curates an assemblage of mighty remixers including Melchoir Productions Ltd, Oskar Offermann and Mistakes Are Ok in the long-awaited presentation of the 9th on tracklist – ‘Without You’.
Oskar Offermann, who’s mix streams below via Boiler Room Debuts, is an artist who has maintained a grip on tightly packed drum structures whilst dialing the sort of swirling melodies that lend him perfectly to a remix of Talabot’s work. His take on the original is propelled by sharp, frazzled hats and puffing 909 drums that sit in front of a soft melodic bed.
The full 12″ is out March 23rd on 12″ and digital formats. Pre-orders are available now via iTunes.
"Fallin," one of the new exclusive tracks from Digitalism's DJ-Kicks has become a fan favorite, and a highlight of the band's recent sets. With a remix from Tommy Trash on the way, it's looking like this one's really going to blow up! And hey, Spinnin TV have a preview for you below. Look for this one out July 23rd.
Okay, seriously, is anything going to slow this girl down? Barely a fortnight after the release of he DJ-Kicks mix (which happens to be receivingravereviews, thank you) the London producer already has a new brand new remix to offer, and it's a banger. Head over to XLR8R for the download, and don't miss Maya on tour all year (like we said, she never stops!).
Brooklyn / Berlin producer Machinedrum (who also happens to be 1/2 of Hotflush's Sepalcure) is responsible for one of our favorite records of the year so far, Room(s) on Planet Mu. His remix of Scuba's DJ-Kicks exclusive track "M.A.R.S." exemplifies a lot of what we love about that album: breakneck drum programming, syncopated keyboard stabs, and swirling atmospheric textures. DJ-Kicks is out this week, and we're pretty thrilled with the reviewssofar.
